Look out for: Many systems claim to be the most efficient, when deciding, make sure you take into account all aspects of what is being asked of you. For instance, uploading files to a website may seem simple but takes time, especially when dealing with images. Likewise, laying out your own pages is extremely time consuming - designing pages from scratch will be even more so (remember WavePrint employ a team of designers to do this). Also consider the amount of chasing that you need to do, it will be easier to get dawdlers to fill in a piece of paper than to go online and fill in a form!

Look out for: Some online systems offer limited creativity as they are more template driven, those that do allow you to design your own may require special software or design skills. Remember that laying out a page is one thing, laying one out well is a skill that professionals train for years to learn!

Look out for: Some companies do impose minimum order quantities of 50 or 100.

Look out for: Some companies ask you to add pages in sets of four or eight, which can be expensive if you only need two!

Look out for: We have seen many books printed on poor quality paper and on machines that are in actual fact not much more than laser copiers. Ask to see a sample produced on the actual type of machine that yours will be printed on. In recent years we have heard horror stories of pages falling out and covers coming off books, don’t be afraid to ‘test’ the strength of any samples sent to you, after all these are mementos that are designed to last a lifetime!

Look out for: Make sure that you know what will affect the price and how, also check for any hidden costs such as for delivery or to have a representative visit to assist.
